My Opinion On The Jokers Reputation

Tue Apr 14, 2009, 5:16 PM
Please, hear me out. I've always been a fan of comic books. To this day I still look up to many of the heroes staring in comic books. And while I'm huge fan of a lot of popular comic books, and I understand that you usually need a scary villain to make for an exciting story, there is NO VILLAIN that I am a fan of.
I would like to tell you all, that I have hated the joker since I was a very little girl. I used to have nightmares featuring him. But I always loved the batman. And what I can honestly say about the joker is...HE DOSE NOT, DESERVE THIS MUCH POSITIVE ATTENTION!!!
Heath was wonderful, BUT THE JOKER IS A MONSTER!!! HE WAS DESIGNED, TO BE HATED AND FEARED. WHEN DID YOU ALL FORGET THAT VILLAINS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE FANS!!! YOU SHOULD ALL BE PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO BATMAN!!! IF YOU'RE GOOD AT FANART, THEN YOU SHOULD BE WORKING MORE WITH THE GOOD GUYS.
SO WHY DON'T YOU ALL STOP WASTING ALL YOU'RE TIME AND TALENT ON ARTWORK AND COSTUMES OF THAT DEFORMED MANIAC, AND TRY GIVING THE BATMAN THE RESPECT HE'S BEEN EARNING FOR DECADES!!!
And I hope to GOD that you all consider that.

The Joker defines Batman. There is no way to define Batman as the ultimate good, if he has no ultimate evil.

I'm not saying that the Joker needs to be removed. I'm trying to say that he is a monster who not deserve to be respected. In fact Bob Kane(creator of Batman) never meant for his villains to be respected, he actually meant for them to be feared. The Batman is the one who deserves you're respect.
Besides I'll bet nobody else out there ever had nightmares where somebody stabbed them between the eyes with the tip of a stupid bang flag gun. It started happening again the week I first saw The Dark Knight.

First, Bill Finger is as much the creator of Batman as Bob Kane.

What I'm saying, is the reason Batman stands out in the list of super heroes, is his extensive list of interesting villains. Batman would only be half as interesting of a character with out his rogues.

I have been a Joker and Batman fan since 1992 when the Animated series came out. When I heard Joker was returning to theaters last year back while seeing Batman Begins in theaters in 2005, I was so excited. I stopped dressing like Joker because it's getting old and it's really weird.

I have to agree...I saw "Dark Knight" and Heath was -brilliant- as the Joker. He also unnerved me and freaked my younger sister out really, really bad. She could only stand to watch the movie once.

I have been noticing that more and more, the villains are getting more and more love while people are starting to dislike the heros and side-heros. It's actually pretty annoying but it's coming into more and more fandoms....

Interesting debate point...glad someone finally brought this trend up!
